Cast iron, often being called
"wrought iron", is an ideal fencing material for its durability, hardness and
cost effectiveness. As they are flexible in high heat, it is fairly easy to
make special shapes out of cast irons, which makes it easy to produce cast
iron fences and posts. There are two rust proof paint finish options: regular
paint and spray baked. Spray baked paint has higher costs but is
recommended as it lasts much longer than regular paint. Paint colors range
from transparent, brown, red, dark grey to pure black. Connections
between fence components can be either welded or bolted. Welded iron fences
are much more popular than bolted ones. Custom designs welcome. Cast iron
fences can be shipped in two ways: preassembled cast panels, typically 6' wide
by 4' tall and customizable, or if bolted connection option is chosen,
unassembled loose components including rails, posts, ornaments, horizontal
bars, nuts and bolts. The first shipping option makes installation much easier
but the panels take up significantly larger spaces than the individual parts
in packing crates or in shipping containers. Shipping in loose component will
save spaces and consequently save the shipping costs but requires more efforts
in installation. |
