China Marble - Beijing Off White / Chinese Carrara Beijing Off White marble, also being called "Hanbaiyu", is a famous building stone in China, which can be seen in many historical palace buildings. There are several versions or grades of Beijing Off White marble. The one commonly used in carving and fabrication is Fangshan White, which is of great resemblance to Italian White Carrara so often called "Chinese Carrara". Chinese Carrara features light grey veins smoothly embedded in the off white back ground. Another often used version of Hanbaiyu, mainly for statue carving, has very little veins. This nearly pure royal white marble provides cost effective alternative to famous White Thassos quarried in Greece or Italy. |
